Our senses constantly interact, and our language reflects this in many lovely ways. Sweet, salty, bitter, sour: all words that are as much about emotions they are about foods. This week I looked at how flavor shows up in the ways we describe our feelings, and set out a buffet of examples. Umami as a word is the wild-card here; it can be described as a satisfying sensation, and this exercise reflects that.
