1: Because if you don’t doubt your own powers, everyone else sure as Hell will.
2: Because the less sure you are about things, the more carefully you’ll navigate them.
3: Because doubt makes that measure-twice-cut-once phenomenon even more obvious.
4: Because ALLLLLLL first drafts suck.
5: Because the humility it takes to make changes makes it easier to sleep at night, too.
6: Because if you’re always learning you’re automatically getting better.
7: Because the more comfortable you are with doubt and uncertainty, the less of a mark you are.
8: Because if you think you know it all, it’s super-obvious that you do not.
9: Because doubt leads to compensatory iteration and that iteration leads you out of the land of the obvious and expected.
10: Because if you doubt your own skills, you’ll take the actions needed to hone them.
Now, all this could be entirely wrong—but honestly, I’m fine with that.
The upside of "imposter syndrome"!
Do let me know when you collect all these into a Compendium of Life's Wisdom. I'll get a copy for everyone I know. ;-)
Bravo. Never enough time or money to do it right the first time, and even less to do it over when it fails.
