How DO people solve puzzles? How do we think about such things?
When given a puzzle: We think about what to do about it.
When given a puzzle: We secretly hope it will solve itself.
When given a puzzle: We hope it will turn out marvelously.
When given a puzzle: It stays broken if we can’t solve it.
When given a puzzle: We work on it one piece at a time.
When given a puzzle: We think about what to make of the pieces.
When given a puzzle: We might even consider unmaking the puzzle itself.
When given a puzzle: We approach the question as if it might be a trick one.
When given a puzzle: We break it down.
When given a puzzle: We might not need all the pieces in order to solve it.
