A theory:
Once we learn how to get something done, we automatically know how to get other things done, because we learn how to learn while we tackle the topic at hand. It’s the, “Oh, I can do that,” confidence we develop for figuring out new things, once we’ve figured out previous things.
I drew that idea as a pyramid, but it also works as a cycle. I went with a steep pyramid to illustrate how the more demanding the learning, the more learners hop off the ladder.
This system can be applied any endeavor: defeating med school, knitting sweaters, assembling Swedish furniture, writing a novel, building a house, the path to enlightenment, baking cookies—whatever.
Main takeaway: don’t give up this time and next time will be easier.
